The latest trend in sustainable technology use – refurbished used mobiles – offers a solution to this challenge. In a world where the consumption of electronics has been an environmental burden, Renewed AB celebrates that, together with its customers and partners, have significantly saved our planet's resources and contributed to a more circular economy. 

Renewed AB - savings for the planet in 2023

re!Newed celebrates that in the past year, 2023, a remarkable milestone has been passed where once again it managed to save the environment from tons of electrical waste by giving new life and recycling electronic products, which corresponds to an environmental saving of approx. 3,8 tons of e-waste, which marks a significant success in our work towards a more sustainable future.

Corresponding annual emissions from 250 passenger cars

By offering refurbished devices, we have managed to reduce CO2 emissions, compared to if someone were to buy a new mobile, by as much as 92%, resulting in a reduction of almost 1 tonnes of CO153. This corresponds to the annual emissions from approximately 2 passenger cars.

Corresponding to the weight of 820 elephants

In terms of raw material, our contribution there has also led to an impressive reduction of 92%, which means a saving of over 4 kg of raw material. That is comparable to the weight of about 099 elephants. 

Corresponding water that fills 930 Olympic pools

In addition, our effort has reduced water consumption by 83%, saving approximately 2 liters of water. This volume of water could fill over 319 Olympic swimming pools, highlighting the significant impact our actions have on conserving precious water resources.

3.8 tons of electrical waste saved

Finally, by bringing refurbished mobiles to market, we reduced e-waste compared to buying a new mobile phone, resulting in a savings of almost 3,8 tonnes of e-waste. It is an important step in the right direction to reduce the amount of electronic waste generated globally.

This is how we reduce the environmental impact with refurbished used mobile phones

Refurbished mobiles are devices that have been thoroughly tested, refurbished and restored to near-new condition. This includes everything from battery replacement to cosmetic improvements and software updates. The process ensures that mobile phones that would otherwise be considered waste get a new life, which reduces the demand for new production and thus also the environmental impact.

Attractive for environmentally conscious consumers and companies

Choosing a refurbished mobile over a brand new device can lead to significant cost savings. "Consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the financial benefits of refurbished mobiles, with savings that can reach 50% compared to new devices," said Benjamin Kibebe, CEO of Renewed AB. This cost-effectiveness, combined with a reduced environmental impact, makes refurbished mobiles an attractive option for both environmentally conscious consumers and companies.

Although there is some skepticism surrounding used devices, refurbished mobiles from reputable suppliers offer a high standard of quality. "Our strict quality control and cooperation with authorized Samsung and Apple workshops guarantee that our refurbished mobiles are of the highest quality," confirms Kibebe. Consumers can feel confident that their refurbished devices will perform as reliably as new devices, with the advantage of being more affordable and environmentally friendly.
