Factory reset Samsung - Guide

Factory reset your Samsung before sending it in for service or selling it! When you perform a factory reset, all personal data, information, and settings are deleted from your phone. Therefore, you should make sure to first back up your data and save your pictures, files, and other content before following the steps to factory reset your Samsung. 

This is how it works - step by step

  1. Make a backup.
  2. Remove Factory Reset Protection.
  3. Do a factory reset.

Backup Samsung

  1. Go into your phone's settings and select Cloud and accounts.
  2. Choose how you want to back up your phone, for example through Samsung Cloud or Google Drive.
  3. Follow the instructions.

Remove Google Factory Reset Protection

Samsung and other Android devices have a built-in protection against unwanted factory resets in case of theft, for example - Google Factory Reset Protection. Follow below steps to remove the feature.

  1. Enter into Settings and press Accounts and backup
  2. Tryck pa  Manage accounts
  3. Select which Google Account you want to delete.
  4. Tryck pa Delete account
  5. Confirm by Delete account again
  6. Follow the instructions that appear to complete the removal.

Factory reset Samsung

A factory reset of your Samsung is done from the Settings menu. Please note that a factory reset will erase all your data. This means that files, pictures, and downloaded apps that you haven't backed up will be completely gone, with no way to restore them.

  1.  Go to Settings and press General handling
  2. Tryck pa Reset
  3. Tryck pa Factory data reset
  4. Confirm by pressing Reset 
  5. Tryck pa Delete everything

Now you have successfully factory reset your Samsung phone and can safely resell it.
