Have you ever wanted to record your iPhone screen? Many people have used third-party apps in the past, but now there's a built-in feature in iOS that makes it easy to record your screen right from Control Center. In this guide, we'll show you how to use Apple's built-in screen recording on your iPhone, as well as how to record from your Mac.
How to make a screen recording on iPhone?
It is possible to record the screen on iPhone, either through the built-in screen recording feature on iPhone, or from a Mac computer using QuickTime. The screen recording feature also works on a used iPhone with iOS 14 or later – as long as your device is up to date, you can use the built-in recorder just like on a new phone.
Record your screen with built-in screen recording in iPhone
Step 1: Add Screen Recording to Control Center (if it's not already there)
- Open Settings
- Go to control center
- Tryck pa + next Screen recording
Step 2: Start the screen recording
- Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen (iPhone X and later) or up from the bottom edge (earlier models) to open control center
- Tryck pa screen playback icon (a circle with a dot in the middle)
- A three-second countdown begins - then recording starts
Tip! If you want to record with microphone sound - hold down the recording icon and enable the microphone
Step 3: Stop recording
- Tap the red status bar or the red recording icon in Control Center
- Select stop
- The video is automatically saved in the app. Pictures
Record iPhone screen using QuickTime (Mac only)
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to Mac with a cable
Use a Lightning to USB cable (or USB-C, depending on your model and Mac). When you connect your device, a prompt may appear on your iPhone asking you to tap "Trust this computer". If it does, press Trust and enter your passcode.
Step 2: Open QuickTime Player on your Mac
- Select Archive > New film recording
- Click the small arrow next to the record button
- Choose your iPhone as Camera unit
Step 3: Start recording
- Tryck pa Record
- When you're done, press Stopped
- Save the video to your Mac

How do I find my screen recordings?
All screen recordings are automatically saved in the app Pictures, under the tab Videos or in the album Screen Recordings.
Can I record audio at the same time as the screen?
Yes. Hold down the record button in Control Center and tap microphone icon before you start recording to record audio via your phone's microphone.
Why isn't screen recording available in my Control Center?
Go to Settings > Control Center and press +next Screen recording to add the feature.
Can I record a call or audio from other apps?
You can record audio from apps, but not always from calls – iPhone doesn't allow recording voice calls due to privacy regulations.
How long can I record?
There is no fixed time limit, but recording is limited by how much storage space you have on your device.
Will I get a notification when I record?
No, but a red indicator appears at the top of the screen (or in the Dynamic Island on newer models) to show that recording is in progress.
